The Reluctant Matchmaker

Author: Shobhan Bantwal

Review: Meena Shenoy, a 31-year-old single, enjoys a flourishing professional life until her mother and ‘those’ aunties remind her about her ticking time to get married.

She had her fair share of pursuers but never fancied as she waited for her Mr. Right.

This is the story of second-generation immigrants in America. It just shows the other side of the culture in a well-put way.

Meena Shenoy, career-wise, is independent, still loves to live with her parents despite being in her early 30s, and is conscious of her height and looks.

Prajay Nayak is tall, handsome, the Wattpad dreamy male lead, gentle, caring, and feels inadequate to Meena because he is too tall!

Akka, my favorite character, in her old age drinks scotch, whisky, and all alcoholic stuff. She was a rebel in her time and the most loving one. Also.. the cupid between both the ML and FL.

The story is very simple. Meena loves her boss, but he feels he is too beastly for her. So he thinks only a tall girl suits him. In search of a tall girl, he asks Meena to draft an ad and be the one to shortlist his possible partners. Meena, who was already in love with him, feels her heartbreak, yet she does it anyway. That’s when the Akka comes and starts being cupid one way or cupid to get them together.

This book shows the subtle romance of a couple in their early and late thirties across the seven seas.

Honestly, this is not my first book from her. This is just a one-time read for me. Because you can predict the plot easily, it doesn’t keep you in guessing mode. But once you start reading this, you won’t put it down.

Will I recommend this? Yes, if you are looking for subtle and soft romance, this is for you.

My Rating: 7/10
