Author: Shoban Bantwal
1. if you are reading as an author, you will definitely learn a lot from this book.
2. Both as a reader and writer, you will learn how to describe feminism without degrading the other genders.
3. The story is very simple about a girl named Isha Ketkar who married into a family where giving birth to a boy is important. Unfortunately, she gave birth to a girl and is on the way to give birth to another girl. It’s so simple but the way the author portrays it is very artistic.
4. The simplicity is explained exquisitely, making it beautiful.
5. Isha’s character is developed with every chapter.
6. This book is mainly focused on the disbelief of having a male child and female abortions.
7. In this book, feminism isn’t portrayed in a fierce way but in a gentle yet effective way. One wouldn’t even know Isha is fighting for her and her daughter’s rights. One will feel like you are reading a story that is happening in ur village or area.
8. Along with all these… the struggles of a widowed woman who falls in love with another man after her husband’s demise are portrayed well.
9. This book portrays the taboo of female birth, female abortions, fighting for one’s rights in gentle way, and the struggles of a widowed woman.
10. I will not say this book is 100% good but it is 90% good. Because there are scenes that resemble the old Bollywood movies where things are quite exaggerated. But overall, it was a good read.
My Rating: 9/10
